Cerebras IPO

Cerebras Systems is a semiconductor company founded in 2016 and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. The company designs and manufactures the Wafer Scale Engine (WSE), the largest chip ever built, which integrates an entire silicon wafer into a single processor for AI workloads.

The WSE-3, its latest generation chip, contains 4 trillion transistors and 900,000 AI-optimized cores on a single wafer. This architecture provides significant advantages for AI inference workloads, delivering faster token generation speeds compared to NVIDIA GPU clusters for large language models. Cerebras offers its hardware as cloud-based inference services through CS-3 systems and partnerships with cloud providers.

Cerebras filed for an IPO in September 2024 but the process was delayed by U.S. government regulatory review of its commercial relationship with G42, an Abu Dhabi-based AI holding company that is its largest customer. The company reported revenue of approximately $136 million in the first half of 2024, with G42-related revenue accounting for a substantial portion.
